# What's FSL?

**FSL is a LOCAL SAVE tool**. Its primary function is to convert your online save profile into a local save. It is not a magic tool that allows you to play public sessions. While it may have worked that way in the past, it was never the main purpose of the tool, and it cannot do so now. Its sole purpose is to convert saves to local saves.

### Why FSL Is Needed

* <mark style="color:blue;">BattlEye</mark> in GTA V leads to frequent account suspensions and bans as mod menus and cheat tools are detected.
* The cycle of mod menu updates and anti-cheat patches causes ongoing risk for anyone using mods.

### How FSL Works

* By loading this local data, you can enter a fully functional GTA Online solo session on a working or suspended or banned account.
* Note: This does NOT restore access to full multiplayer — solo only.

* You must have created an FSL save while your account was still active.
* If your account is already banned/suspended and there’s no previous FSL save, this method will not work.

* Download the official FSL tool only from **UnknownCheats** forums to ensure legitimacy. Always download the latest version.

### Creating an FSL Backup

1. Open Rockstar Games Launcher without launching GTA V.
   * Make sure you’re signed into the account you want to back up.
   * Go to Settings > uncheck “Enable BattlEye.”
2. If you use Steam/Epic:
   * Disable BattlEye by adding “-nobattleye” to launch options.
     * Steam: Library > Right-click GTA V > Properties > Advanced.
     * Epic: Library > GTA V > three dots > Launch Options.
3. Locate GTA V’s root game folder:
   * Steam: Library > Right-click GTA V > Manage > Browse Local Files.
   * Epic: Library > three dots under GTA V > Open Install Location.

### Using FSL with a Suspended/Banned Account

* With your FSL backup and “version.dll” in place (and BattlEye disabled), launch GTA V as usual.
* Select “Join Session” — you’ll enter a solo GTA Online instance using your last local save.
* All major online features in solo sessions are available (except playing with others).
* To play normal public sessions, remove the “version.dll” file from the root folder.

### Backup Guidelines and Safety

* Each time you start GTA V with “version.dll,” it creates a backup for both online characters.
* To minimize ban risk on an active account, use FSL only once every 2–4 weeks to update your backup.
* You don’t need to actually play — just enter GTA Online, then exit and remove the .dll.
* There’s always some risk when using unauthorized .dll files, even just for backups.

### How to play with friends

You can play with anyone as long as both of you are using a menu. Any mod menu combination is allowed if BattlEye is disabled. This applies to both Legacy and Enhanced editions. Only players with BattlEye enabled cannot join, and you will not be able to join them either.

* FSL works only if the backup was made before your ban/suspension.
